The Models Direct fashion review team have been taking a look at Rihanna’s clothing line for River Island this week. Unlike many ‘celebrity’ fashion lines Rihanna designed all the pieces and actually wears them herself as you can see from her ‘selfie’ on Instagram of her modelling a denim 3-piece from her collection. Normally we would avoid double denim like the plague but she makes it look effortlessly cool with some metallic pumps, shades and a backwards facing baseball cap.

She told Press following her fashion show at the Spring Launch: “I’ve wanted to design my own fashion line for a very long time.

This is something I’ve wanted to do ever since I started loving fashion. I got passionate about it and every time I saw something on a rack there would be something I’d want to do to it to change it.

So I felt like the only way I could do that would be to design the perfect thing for me.

This is my way of doing that – teaming up with River Island and designing clothes for young women with young, sassy personalities.”

Speaking at the time, she said: “I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family run business also really appealed to me.

I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”

Her Spring collection seems to have flown off the shelves since it was launched two months ago in March – with only a few limited pieces left available to purchase online. One of the biggest sellers by far (and one of our favs!) was the black thigh high split spaghetti strap dress.
