One of the UK’s most prestigious Casting Directors, Paul Issac, recently got in touch with the talent bookers here at Models Direct in search for extras for their latest high-profile client –Britain’s best known shoe retailer, Clarks.

Having already styled and photographed Clarks’ S/S12 ads, our client was also given the task of handling their TV commercial.

So what was the world’s number one in ‘everyday footwear’ looking for in their extras? The team handling the ad told us they wanted a smart yet casual-looking male and female model who look like they may work in a media city job.

Models Direct swiftly got to work comprising a selection of models that fit the brief, and of that group, 33-year-old Gabriella and 24-year-old Tom, both Londoners, were the client’s favourites.

Shortly after being booked, our models were talked through what to expect on the job. Both Tom and Gabriella were asked to arrive on set in neatly pressed smart-casual workwear and a coat, with no bright colours, logos, or silly hats! The models were also asked to bring a second outfit option as back-up.

On the day of the shoot, our extras met the production manager on location, which was at the London Underground’s Warwick Avenue Station, and filming got underway.

Our male extra Tom, who earned £168.00 for the day’s work, wrote to us expressing how well the assignment went: “Had a great day being an extra in a Clarks video thanks to Models Direct. There was a really nice crew who sorted me out with a good lunch. I met the other extras, and promptly assumed role of an extra walking in the background. The photographer was really polite and the day went well!”

Gabriella, who was paid an extras fee of £156.00, told us how she’s hoping modelling and extra work will provide a gateway into the music industry: “I loved being an extra in an ad very much. It was a good experiment; a glimpse to another world. I liked the feeling of pretending to be someone else. I was very pleased with my model booking agent, who took very good care of me. I would recommend modelling to anyone and I hope I can get more assignments in the future. The reason I have joined with Models Direct is because I am an aspiring singer and think this agency is a great help in achieving my goal; to live and work as a singer. Thanks Models Direct.”

Both Tom and Gabriella did a great job of acting natural for the 2-3 hour filming period and we can’t wait to see the ad when it comes out!
