Of course, there’s the whole debate around advertisers misrepresenting their products, such as when a foundation ad features an excessively airbrushed model, but the wider issue we, as a pro-body diversity modelling agency, are particularly interested in is the role in which digital enhancement plays towards creating a negative body image.

That being said, thankfully things are starting to change. Ever since Dove launched its iconic ‘Campaign for Real Beauty’ back in 2004, others have followed suit.

This snippet of the short film ‘Evolution’, produced by Dove in 2006, depicts the transformation of a real woman into a model, and powerfully highlights just how our perception of beauty has become warped.

We at Talent Management love this refreshingly honest film revealing the slimming processes, airbrushing and facial and bodily distortions that often go into making an ad.

Directed by Reginald Pike’s Yael Staav, ‘Evolution’ takes us from model to billboard in under 60 seconds – check it out and tell us your thoughts on post production techniques and their effect on you.
