As we head towards 2012 many of us here at Talent Management are feeling excited about the year ahead, but are a little concerned about the seasonal over-indulgences that we are bound to fall foul to on the way. Luckily we spend lots of time around models at the agency and get to hear all their best Christmas survival tips every year. This Christmas and New Year we decided to get ahead of the game and collect the best survival tips from the guys and girls at our modelling agency, check them out below…

Sleep and relaxation

These are two big favourites with our models. Over the holidays many of us will get the odd extra lay in and the chance to relax and put our feet up. In Britain, we seem to be a nation of people who feel guilty about taking this time out for ourselves. Well, we are here to tell you that relaxing and ensuring that you get enough sleep is one of the best things that you can do for your health and your looks, especially if you work hard throughout the year! So make the most of any extra sleep and relaxation time you get over the festive season. This is our top tip for protecting against and combating the post-Christmas blues.

Protection

Most of us consume more rich foods and alcohol than usual over the festive period but it is possible to give your body a little extra protection from all of those additional toxins. A great first step is to end each evening with a tall glass of water, particularly if you have overdone the alcohol consumption, you will find it does make a difference to how you feel the next morning. Additionally, try starting each day with a cup of warm water with the juice of a fresh lemon and a spoonful of honey added – Talent Management would recommend a teaspoon of Manuka honey as the best choice. This is a fantastic detoxifier and your body will thank you for it! Another great tip is to swap the odd cup of tea or coffee for green tea. Green tea is full of antioxidants but as it does still contain caffeine we would suggest keeping it at one or two cups maximum per day, again sweeten with honey. You can also help to protect against damaging ‘free-radicals’ created by those bad Christmas-time choices with a bit of extra vitamin C, so don’t be afraid of the clementines!

Exercise.

Yes, it’s predictable, but exercise is so helpful when it comes to both physical and emotional well being, and it doesn’t have to go on hold because it’s Christmas. Go out for a family walk, or dig out the Twister and get those happy hormones buzzing as you laugh yourself healthier. Active console games also provide great ways to make exercise fun and bring the family together. You will find that taking part in this kind of pastime puts a smile on everyone’s face, gives you more energy and leaves you glowing.
