As a talent agency that specialises in child and teen models, we and our models’ parents are shocked to hear about The Elder Scrolls V – Skyrim child killing mod.

Having attracted more than 7 million players, the new Elder Scrolls title, The Elder Scrolls V – Skyrim, seems to have become an instant hit world wide.

The game’s developers have strived to make the game as immersive as possible, allowing you to thieve, plunder and murder to your heart’s content – a debate for another day – but, of course, the maiming or killing of child characters is strictly off limits.

However, news that Skyrim Nexus has created a new mod that will override the game’s settings and allow players to kill child non-player characters (NPCs) has just risen, and unsurprisingly has sparked huge controversy.

Gaming website GameBandits has blogged about the morality of the new mod, saying: “It cannot be denied that the children of Skyrim are among the most annoying NPCs ever created in the history of gaming, but does that mean that a player has the right to dispatch them? Censorship laws in some countries forbid games from allowing the player to harm children, but there have been some games that have allowed this.”

The news comes shortly after equally popular Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3 also caused a stir – the war game was found to include a cut scene that shows a young girl being blown up by a chemical explosion.

“It seems that the community is tied between immersion and reality, and common decency and what they see as upholding moral standards,” GameBandits added.

So, to all our child models’ parents, we at Talent Management would like to know what you think – should gamers be allowed to act out any fantasy they desire, or is it morally wrong to harm children in a game, even if the children are only made up of pixels?
