Modelling agency Models Direct has just heard that ‘Breaking Dawn’ – the fourth film in the Twilight series – has become the fifth biggest box-office debut ever! According to reports on the film industry website ScreenDaily.com, ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ registered a $284m worldwide launch as fans rushed to see it over the weekend.

The Twilight series is based on four best-seller novels which were written by Stephenie Meyer and published 2005-2008. Four films have now enjoyed incredible popularity since first release ‘Twilight’ captured the imaginations of love-sick teenagers everywhere back in 2008. ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse’ followed with similar success.

‘Breaking Dawn’ continues the story of Bella and vampire Edward (played by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) as they become man and wife, much to the outrage of werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) who is still in love with Bella. The story follows Bella and Edward on their honeymoon – where their much talked about sex-scene takes place – and soon after Bella and Edward realise that they are to be parents, but all is not well..!

It has to be said that in the Models Direct offices we are not too sure why the sex-scene has caused so much discussion – in fact it may have been a later scene showing Bella’s Caesarean section that really warrants the 12A certificate.

This latest offering from Summit Entertainment is the first of two films that will conclude the vampires and werewolves themed teen romance, with the final film, ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’, due for release at this time next year.

Are you a Twilight fan? If so, do you think the films have done the books justice so far?
