It’s fashion week in Reykjavik, Iceland! This week’s episode sees BB, Charlotte, Jesse and Ariella all fly out to the beautiful country in order to strut their stuff wearing some of Iceland’s top designer clothing.

In recent years, the creative industries in Iceland have been flourishing. The local market has sprung to life with new creative enterprises – including modelling. Reykjavik Fashion Festival seeks to provide the opportunity to channel Iceland’s creative energy into one single event.

Reykjavik Fashion Festival is an organisation created by and for the Icelandic fashion industry with the soul intention of driving Icelandic fashion forward; this is a huge opportunity for the participating models as they get to wear some stunning, though perhaps slightly outrageous, Icelandic designs.

There was no sign of Lord Rob this week and rather unusually, no drunken antics thrown into the mix from Jay. Viewers were however treated to some rather unpleasant images of him receiving colonic therapy as part of his two-day detox back home with Mum – here’s hoping her attempts will help get him back on track.

There seems to be a recurring theme in Dirty Sexy Things now, that of fish. Either as clothing or as dinner, fish seem to be continually featuring in this series. This week the models head off to a local restaurant where they are given a unique opportunity to try some of the Icelandic specialities including smoked eel, shark and whale fat. Lastly, the models are served a special dish consisting of rotten fish. Not surprisingly, Ariella refuses to taste the delicacy which causes immediate tension.

Meanwhile, the episode moves back over to Perou where his team join the models in their attempts to take shot number five on the black sands of Iceland’s stunning beaches. Perou unabashedly describes this week’s photo shoot as ‘fur coats no knickers’ which of course proves rather interesting with Ariella involved. Remember, this is the model who refused to wear a leotard because she thought it was too skimpy and revealing.

To everybody’s surprise, Ariella does participate, but very reluctantly. This, combined with her childish behaviour throughout the episode, becomes consistently annoying and it’s hardly a shock when Perou states he never wants to see Ariella at a modelling shoot again.

The photos come out beautifully as expected, but the shoot really does highlight the fact that models simply need to be flexible and adaptable. Many, many looks can be appreciated by photographers – provided models are willing to trust their decisions!
