As the weather is decidedly heating up in the UK, we thought it was about time to review the major swimwear trends emerging this spring/summer.

Both designers and the highstreet are offering a huge selection of on-trend swimwear this season. From one-pieces to skimpy bikinis, glamorous retro prints to pretty pale florals, we’re spoilt for choice.

But with a little help from our top trend reviews, we’re sure you’ll look great on the beach no matter what your style!

Strapless swimsuits

When picking out your holiday outfits, we recommend mixing-up your bikinis with some one-pieces – trust us, they’re going to be big this season. We love the strapless styles that have started to appear on the highstreet and from designers such as We Are Handsome and Zimmermann. One which seems to be a model favourite here at Talent Management is H&M’s black strapless with cutaway sides and a sporty bandeau top. It’s inspired by wet suits and shows off the female curves to perfection!

Halterneck bikinis

But if one-pieces cover up too much for you, then try out what is possibly the key swimwear look this summer: the printed halterneck bikini. This year’s spring/summer catwalks were awash with 60s and 70s influenced prints that screamed retro jet-set glamour. The halterneck bikini is a style that “looks great whether in a zebra print, graphic black and white zigzag print, fun carnival print, vivid brights or a refreshing seersucker stripe”, says H&M.

Maxi cover-up

While ethnic-inspired kaftans have dominated previous beachwear looks, this summer, maybe it’s time to leave the kaftans at home? British Vogue recommends a sheer maxi dress as a great alternative for covering up. Marc Jacobs do a stunning burgundy maxi that will take you from beach to bar with ease. Or, if you’re after something a little less glamour-puss, keep an eye out for sundresses. We’ve seen some gorgeous sun-faded floral ones on the highstreet.

And, not to forget all our male model readers – guys, this summer keep it simple, preppy and sporty. Looking trendy on holiday is all about that modern beach staple, swim shorts.

Look out for styles in preppy checks or vivid block colours. And for all our men out there who like to make a statement, try a shorter, more adventurous sporty style.
