Battersea Dogs & Cats Home have just revealed news of a catwalk…or should that be dogwalk…featuring their abandoned dogs modelling specially created canine coats and accessories from some of the industry’s top fashion designers.

After previewing their new season collections, designers including Jenny Packham, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood have designed exclusive outfits for the aptly named Collars & Coats Gala Ball, all of which will be auctioned off in aid of the charity after the show.

Come Thursday 8th November, the sleek, the shaggy, and the wet nosed will swap their Battersea kennels for the limelight, with top male model David Gandy leading the canine fashion pack and stylist Hilary Alexander presenting the designs at the fundraising event.

Other designers creating pieces include Giles Deacon, Ben De Lisi, Faberge, Jeremy Hackett, Henry Holland, Stephen Jones, Derek Lawlor, Julien Macdonald, Mulberry, Gareth Pugh, Trevor Pickett, Zandra Rhodes, Philip Treacya and Matthew Williamson.

You can see a sneak peak of a couple of these incredible creations above, which guests at the event will have the first opportunity to bid on.

Claire Horton, Chief Executive of Battersea commented: “This will be the most wonderful and unique fashion fundraiser and we know our dogs will really enjoy it. Front row at Collars & Coats will be the place to be on 8 November and we can’t wait to see Battersea dogs groomed and dressed in canine couture by the most influential and iconic designers from the world. To have David Gandy and Hilary Alexander presenting these hotly anticipated canine creations makes it even more unmissable. It’s incredible to be working with such world-class talent and we’re immensely grateful to everyone who is supporting our dogs and our cats through this collaboration.”

Henry Holland, one of the designers involved, added: “I am extremely proud to support the dogwalk, I have always been a dog lover and this initiative is such a brilliant way to use fashion as a way of highlighting such a great cause.”
