Every season, Talent Management awaits CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and CEO Steven Kolb’s letter reminding the industry of the CFDA Health Initiative, which shows the importance of model health, diversity, and the message that Health is Beauty.

Read on for September 2012’s letter sent out to the industry, just in time for fashion week…

“Soon Fashion Week will be here again, and whether you are a designer showing your collection, or involved in some other facet of the industry’s efforts during this time, it is important that you remember The CFDA Health Initiative, and its growing message of diversity and Health is Beauty.

“We applaud all of the top modelling agencies who have once again pledged to not send models under 16 for shows.  We are excited to share that many leading casting agents are publicly aligned with our mission and have pledged to check IDs. As always, I am dedicated to upholding these values and will ID all DVF models, and I hope that you will join me in supporting this initiative.

“In keeping with our message of education and model health, we have also expanded the Model Ambassador program. This year we will facilitate internships for models within all areas of our industry to develop their skills beyond the runway.

“Our Health Initiative guidelines are enclosed with information on labour laws and the signs of eating disorders. New York Fashion is now of global interest and we have the power to influence the world. Let’s stand together as an industry for diversity and health. This is a true measure of beauty.”
