Reality… Not Reality Stars: Lanvin’s New Campaign Video Celebrates Real Models With Individuality

Having already seen, and loved, the shoot’s final images – shot by Steven Meisel with creative direction by House + Holme’s Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme – Lanvin have now just released the campaign video.

As advocates of model diversity, Talent Management was happy to see that Lanvin’s A/W 12 campaign images featured not just ‘real’ male and female models, but models ranging from 18 to 82 years old.

Alber Elbaz told WWD that he cast real models as opposed to professional models as he was “interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes”.

“It felt like a crazy family, and I like that,” he explained.

Well, having already seen, and loved, the shoot’s final images – shot by Steven Meisel with creative direction by House + Holme’s Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme – Lanvin have now just released the campaign video.

Accompanied by the line “Lanvin Fall/Winter 2012 campaign celebrates Individuals with individuality. Reality… Not Reality Stars”, we’re loving the video even more than the photoshoot, mainly because the models reveal their varied backgrounds and personalities by speaking to the camera.

One model reveals they like frozen blueberries, another says they collect salt and pepper shakers, while 81 year old mature model in the making Jacquie Murdock says that when she was 18 she always wanted to come to Paris…where the shoot took place!

We believe that fantastic displays of model diversity like this promote body confidence and are inspirational for everyone, so let’s hope more cast outside of the model norm!
