Last year, Brazilian environmentalist and model Gisele Bündchen beat actor and producer Don Cheadle to rally the most green activities for the WED Challenge, and Talent Management is already putting bets on who will win what this year.

Last year, Brazilian environmentalist and model Gisele Bündchen beat actor and producer Don Cheadle to rally the most green activities for the WED Challenge, and Talent Management is already putting bets on who will win what this year.

This year’s week of WED, 3-8 June 2012, is themed around ‘Green Economy: Does it include you?’, which encourages people from all around the world to assess where the ‘Green Economy’ fits into their daily lives.

And, to make WED 2012 a little bit more special that last year’s, UNEP aims to break records for the greatest number of activities registered in its four decade history. There’s even going to be prizes for the most engaged projects from each of the following categories:

– People: Biggest number of participants mobilised for a WED Activity

– Theme: Best supports WED 2012 theme ‘Green Economy: Does it include you?’

– Creativity: Most innovative, unique & fun WED activity

– Buzz: WED activity that best harnesses the power of social media

– Impact: WED activity that results in effective and substantive change

The activities must be registered online by 30 June 2012, at: www.unep.org/wed. The winners will be announced on 30 July 2012. The projects can bring all kinds of ideas. From mobilizing your friends and family to use public transportation to involving your community to save water. So, bring your ideas!

This year, Goodwill Ambassadors Bündchen and Cheadle will join forces and use their voices to encourage people to participate and register their projects.

If you fancy being a model with a conscience, check out the World Environment Day challenge at www.unep.org/wed. Just find an activity that motivates you, register your action and show how engaged you are.

And if you need some more convincing, watch the lovely Gisele tell you all about the challenge above. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, there really is no end to Bündchen’s environmental efforts!
