Modelling agency Models Direct is not at all surprised to hear that the youngest of the Beckham clan has just been offered her first paid baby modelling job aged just 9 months. However, the way that she was asked has raised an eyebrow or two here in the MD offices.

According to Marie Claire, a representative from My1stYears.com contacted Harper directly asking her if she would consider becoming a baby model for the personalised gift website, and the email makes quite an entertaining read…

David Beckham talks to Pop Sugar about daughter Harper.

Founder of the website Emily Sandford reportedly wrote: “Both your parents are fashion icons, and we can see no reason why you shouldn’t start your own career in the fashion industry even at your young age. From what we have seen of you since your first public appearance less than a year ago, we know you have implacable style and taste. You were therefore the immediate first choice for our campaign.

“Due to child labour laws we cannot negotiate a contract or salary directly with you, that is why your Mummy and Daddy have been copied in on this letter. We are happy to speak with them about your fee; however, we are prepared to pay you a significant amount to be the face of our new range.

“We are really hoping that you will take up this fantastic opportunity with us and become the first baby to openly endorse our brand. We hope it would make your Mummy and Daddy very proud.”

Apparently the contract would result in images of Harper modelling various items for the brand – including clothing and trainers – all with her name adorning them. We cannot help but wonder what the Beckham’s response will be.

So far Models Direct has not heard whether or not they have replied to the rather unique baby modelling offer – we can only assume that the three of them are discussing it before making a decision. Meanwhile a spokesperson from the brand has commented: “We are extremely excited to have offered Harper Seven Beckham a job. Both her parents are fashion icons so she was our natural first choice.

“If all is successful we hope My1stYears.com spark up the same relationship with Harper Seven as her father has done with brands like H&M.”

What do you think about the way that Harper has been approached to become a baby model for My First Years? Super-sweet or just a bit silly? Opinion is divided in the Models Direct camp.
