When wearing high-heels does go wrong on the catwalk.

Several catwalk models took matters into their own hands this week at the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival when they were presented with dangerously high heels to wear on the catwalk.

Images of the ‘model revolt’ show some models stopping mid-catwalk to remove the offending articles. Guys and girls in the Models Direct offices were at first unsure as to whether or not this was a part of the show, but it soon became clear that things were not going to plan.

Following the event some models were reported to have said that the shoes were too dangerous to walk and simply had to come off in the name of safety. We aren’t surprised that they didn’t want to risk walking down a 30-metre catwalk modelling the particularly high platform stilettos.

Graeme Lewsey – festival CEO – said to The Age: “I’m so disappointed. It shouldn’t have happened, but models know, if there’s the slightest problem, they have to remove (their shoes) for safety. If nothing else, it’s showcased the fragility of live performances. When they do go without a hitch, they are marvels.” You have to admire his safety first attitude.

It certainly wouldn’t have been the first time that a model had suffered a stumble in the name of fashion. View the video above to witness the risks of towering high-heels and catwalks for yourself!
