Models and model booking staff at talent and model agency Talent Management are upset to hear confirmation of Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s divorce, which was announced 4 days ago after months of speculation.

Brand cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind the split and was pictured looking sad as he left the Savoy hotel yesterday without his wedding ring. The divorce came just weeks after he told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview: “I’m really happily married. I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.”

According to statements made in September 2010 in Brand’s second autobiography ‘My Booky Wook 2’ the 36 year old comedian turned actor – previously known as a bit of a Lothario – clearly felt positive that he had found the right partner in singer Katy Perry and was completely enchanted by her:

“I knew I’d marry her on that first date,” he said. “From the first date, I changed. No more women. Well, actually, thousands of women. I wake up to a different one each day, they’re all her.  She chose me, bottled me and cuffed me. And now this is my life, my girl, this beautiful woman.”

However, by February 2011, rumours that the dynamic duo were undergoing couples therapy began to surface and since then a string of arguments, often involving his apparent disapproval of her love of partying, have been reported. Teetotaler Brand is said to have become more of a ‘homebody’ since winning his battle with drug addiction some years ago, whereas Perry, 7 years younger than Brand, still appears enjoy the party scene.

In the Talent Management offices, some are convinced that the pair split mostly over pride and will re-unite before 2012 is over, others believe that Perry will enjoy her new-found freedom to party with friends like Rhianna and that Brand will return to his womanising ways. Maybe they will both simply learn from their experience and go on to find partners that are more suited to their current needs. What do you think will will see from this passionate pair over the coming months?

Brand is reported to have said in a statement over the divorce that the pair will remain friends and that he still ‘adores’ Perry despite things not working out. We hope whatever is ahead for them that they will both find happiness in 2012.
