Did Little Mix Deserve To Win X Factor?

At Models Direct we have been not surprised at girlband Little Mix’s X Factor win.
The four were announced as this year’s champions this weekend, but their triumph has not come without the usual divided opinion. In fact, the whole show has come under fire from several angles this year.

Models Direct is not surprised at girlband Little Mix’s X Factor win.
The four were announced as this year’s champions this weekend, but their triumph hasn’t come without the usual divided opinion. In fact, the whole show has come under fire from several angles this year.

There has been much talk about viewing figures being down – apparently 2011 being the first time that the show’s ratings were not an improvement on the previous year. There has also been much controversy around the new judging line-up, with Kelly Rowland ruffling feathers on several occasions as we reported in our modelling blog earlier in the month. Even the styling and choreography on the show have come in for some criticism!

A report in The Guardian suggests that the four girls were voted as a ‘best of a bad bunch decision’ on the part of X Factor audiences rather than as a clear favourite but some would certainly disagree.

Whatever your opinion, show statistics reveal that Little Mix were the most consistent performers. Many of our models have been fans of the lucky foursome from the start and are now delighted that they have been crowned 2011’s best act. Rumour has it that Simon Cowell is also a huge fan, with ambitions to make the band into the next Spice Girls. He tweeted following the final: “Congratulations to Little Mix. And Paula as you can see, groups can win this show! I was really hoping a group would win this year. @OfficialTulisa has done a great job. These girls could be stars.”

Mentor Tulisa Contostavlos and the girls were emotional as the results came through, with the eldest of the group, 20 year old Jesy Nelson declaring: “Oh my God, this is never going to sink in. We can’t thank the public enough for picking up the phone.”

Models Direct also loved the striking and talented redhead Janet Devlin – who secured the most votes from weeks one to five – and were sorry to see her go, but we predict that Little Mix will be very successful, what do you think of their win?
