International Head Makeup Artist for Swedish brand Make Up Store, and teacher at Europe’s leading make up school The International Make Up Centre, Olle Johansson is an undisputed guru when it comes to make up. Trust us; he’s the kind of man whose words of wisdom are to be taken on board.

Luckily for us, the renowned makeup artist recently spoke to Vogue.com.au, revealing his best makeup tips, tricks and trends and mottos…so take note girls.

Discussing his top trends for 2011, Johansson told the magazine: “The eighties is back again but it’s not the same. It was too over-the-top, and I know because I was there! Nowadays it’s subtler. The colour is no longer focused on the cheeks but now on the eyes.”

Continuing, he revealed his best beauty tips and tricks: “You must have wonderful eyebrows because they give you an instant lift. Lightly shade the brow for a bold but natural look. Also, never use soap. Skincare is everything so look after your skin.

“I have an old Hollywood trick where I apply mascara and while it’s wet I tap some loose powder onto the lashes so it sticks. I immediately apply more mascara and it thickens lashes instantly. “

And his makeup motto? “Play with your colours and have fun. When you look at an image from a magazine, remember that it’s just an image. We create a dream and not real life, you must separate these two. Think of something fun and play with it.”
