Top models, including Crystal Renn and Marquita Pring, have triggered huge debate around body size in the modelling world of late.

Recently, Pring told fashionista.com why she thinks everyone is so fixated by size issues: “Because not only is it a more attainable image but it’s finally something different!” she explained.

“We’ve been manipulated by the media and fashion industry to believe that there is only one body type: super skinny. The majority of people in this world will never be as thin as they’ve been warped into believing they need to be.”

Renn, who is currently starring in Chanel’s newest campaign, told Fashionista: “I think the fashion industry is changing and is more open to a new ideal.

“It’s about a personality and a moment captured…it’s not about body size it’s about talent and effort…I hope the industry sees this [Chanel campaign] as an example of that.”

Pring said of Renn: “Crystal’s been promoting a message that is so positive and beneficial to our society: health. It doesn’t matter what size you are, just be healthy. You can be a size 2 and be far less healthy than a person that is a size 14. There is no right or wrong size if you’re healthy and fit.”

Whatever a model’s size, we at Talent Management respect our models for their abilities and talents, and hope that the fashion industry follows suit.
