Just this year he got caught up defending the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talentmanagement.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/marc-jacobs-defends-using-underage-catwalk-models-but-do-the-public-agree\/\" target=\"_blank\">use of underage catwalk models<\/a>, and last year caused offence when he used an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talentmanagement.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/dakota-fanning-the-new-marc-jacobs-fragrance-model\/\" target=\"_blank\">image of young teen Dakota Fanning modelling his new fragrance \u2018Oh, Lola!\u2019<\/a> seductively between her thighs.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, when his fall 2012 campaign broke online, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talentmanagement.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Talent Management <\/a>anticipated something outside of the realms of \u2018save\u2019.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAnd that\u2019s exactly what he\u2019s delivered, only this time his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.modelsdirect.com\/become-a-model\" target=\"_blank\">model choices<\/a> don\u2019t appear too young or sexually suggestive, instead they look like corpses.<\/p>\n<p>And we\u2019re not talking your regular grey-skinned, sunken-eyed type models styled on some horror movie set; these models are on a beach! The juxtaposition of the designer\u2019s eclectic, vaguely Victorian looks, against the sunny tranquil beach is actually quite stunning. But couple that with deathly make-up, gaunt faces and skinny frames, styled with huge Dr Suess style fur hats making the girls appear even more waif-like, and the resulting ads just take that sickly vibe to disturbing level.<\/p>\n<p>Shot, as usual, by Juergen Teller, and starring models Marie Piovesan and Marte Mei van Haaster &#8211; two fresh faces that don\u2019t look particularly fresh at all &#8211; this is the kind of standard provocative imagery that comes with the Jacobs\/Juergen pairing. But we can\u2019t help but think promoting clothing on seriously unwell looking models just won\u2019t appeal to the consumer, no matter how high-end.<\/p>\n<p>But we may be wrong.
