An editorial in Bulgarian magazine 12 shot by Vasil Germanov etitled \u201cVictim of Beauty\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Having recently seen a transgender model fronting a bra campaign<\/a>, a pregnant male model in bondage<\/a> and a pair of models wetting their pants<\/a>, we thought we\u2019d pretty much become immune to the shock tactics of controversial fashion shoots\u2026that was until now.<\/p>\n

This week, the Talent Management<\/a> bloggers were stunned when we came across a super-shocking selection of images by Vasil Germanov for Bulgarian publication 12 Magazine.

\nFor the shoot, entitled \u2018Victim Of Beauty\u2019, the arguably contentious photographer shot six female models<\/a> all sporting their very own traumatic injury, including a black eye, a cut nose, a bust-up lip and seemingly chewed ear, a facial burn, a slit throat and, perhaps the most disturbing, a Chelsea smile.<\/p>\n

While we know that fashion often delves into the realms of art, attempting to convey some deep meaning, we can\u2019t help but think the images glamorise domestic violence and misogyny.<\/p>\n

One Facebook commenter agrees, writing: \u201cYup whoever did this shoot hates women…oh yeah and whoever published it really hates women.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Facebooker, however, thinks otherwise, saying: \u201cFashion and art are two of the most popular forms of media to address controversial subjects. not only does it raise awareness about said issue, but also creates deeper meaning (juxtapositions, symbolism etc). while this is unpleasant to look at, isn’t that the point? the majority of readers of this magazine will presumably be women, so it’s bound to cause a reaction and evoke emotion, much in the same way that an anti-domestic violence campaign would.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perhaps we could agree with said comment had the magazine attempted to justify the so called “beauty” editorial with an explanation as to what message they were trying convey.<\/p>\n

Instead though, 12 Magazine simply accompanied the spread with a warning that reads (translated): \u201cRecommended Parental Controls: pictures are not recommended for persons under 16 years. And for the faint hearted.\u201d<\/p>\n
