This week the Talent Management <\/a> \u2018model looks on a budget\u2019 series continues with inexpensive and natural help for your hair. Spring is in the air and you can ensure that your locks are in fantastic condition after a harsh winter with these natural, inexpensive and helpful homemade hair treatments.<\/p>\n

Hair lightener:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lemon juice will lighten hair if left on in sunlight. If you use lemon juice as a lightener be sure to combine with olive oil to help prevent drying and condition well afterwards. Try 3 parts lemon juice to 1 part water and 1 part olive oil, pour into a pump action spray bottle, shake and apply to the hair that you wish to lighten. Expose to bright sunlight for an hour then shampoo and condition the hair.<\/p>\n

Hair glosser:<\/strong><\/p>\n

For blonde hair use chamomile tea as your final rinse.
\nFor red hair use 1 cup of carrot juice for copper tones, or 1 cup of beetroot juice for mahogany tones. Apply and distribute evenly through the hair, wrap in a towel and leave for 15 minutes, then rinse with equal parts warm water and cider vinegar. Apply leave-in conditioner to the ends if required.
\nFor dark hair use 1 tablespoon henna to one cup of conditioner. Combine the ingredients and apply directly to the hair, distributing evenly. leave for 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly. Use warm green tea as a final rinse.<\/p>\n

Build up remover:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use the juice of a lemon or a tablespoon of cider vinegar to remove product build up.
\nDampen the hair, pour your lemon juice or vinegar onto the scalp and massage in for a few minutes. Shampoo as usual and rinse thoroughly. Overuse will strip the hair of natural oils so never use more than once a week and avoid use on very dry hair. Do not use lemon juice on hair that has been dyed brunette or red as it may lighten the colour.<\/p>\n

Conditioner:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mash the flesh of one ripe avocado until it has a smooth consistency then add a tablespoon of coconut milk. Apply to the hair and wrap in a warm towel. Leave for 30 minutes then rinse thoroughly.<\/p>\n

Hot oil treatment:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pour a table spoon of jojoba oil into a plastic container and suspend the container in hot water until warm. Apply to damp hair, concentrating on the ends, and wrap hair in a warm towel. Leave for 30 minutes then shampoo as normal.<\/p>\n
