Its aims include encouraging young people to engage constructively with their identities and removing the awkward silence surrounding the subject.<\/p>\n<p>Despite that fact that 50 percent of mixed-race people are under 16 and are fast becoming Britain\u2019s largest ethnic group, many mixed race youths grow up struggling with their identity \u2013 an issue that Britain &amp; Ireland\u2019s Next Top Model <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talentmanagement.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/jade-thompson%E2%80%99s-unique-look-wins-modelling-competition\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jade Thompson<\/a> encountered growing up. That\u2019s why we at Models Direct think this modelling competition is a great idea to not only to boost the confidence of young mixed race aspiring models, but to also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.modelsdirect.com\/become-a-model\/women\/looks-types\/\" target=\"_blank\">diversity the modelling industry<\/a> even further.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley Lincoln, founder of Mix-d:, told <a href=\"http:\/\/menmedia.co.uk\/manchestereveningnews\/life_and_style\/s\/1460008_i-spent-years-wishing-i-didnt-have-freckles-and-ginger-hair-next-top-model-winner-jade-thompson-on-how-she-learned-to-love-her-looks\">The Manchester Evening News<\/a> that the modelling competition is \u201cabout challenging the perception on the catwalk that models should be mono heritage \u2013 either two black parents or two white parents\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, last year\u2019s competition winner, stunning <a href=\"http:\/\/www.modelsdirect.com\/become-a-model\/men\/\" target=\"_blank\">male model<\/a> Graham Scaife, has already made a great impression in the modelling industry having just modelled at London Fashion Week.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from signing up with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.modelsdirect.com\" target=\"_blank\">modelling agency<\/a>, one of the best ways of getting noticed in the modelling scene has to be entering competitions like this one.
