We\u2019ve talked before about how important it can be to go make up free for a bit. It can make a lot of difference to your skin, as covering up can actually make blemishes worse and longer lasting than they would be otherwise. You\u2019ll also be aware that \u2018selfie\u2019 is one of the newest words to enter the Oxford English Dictionary, and it\u2019s definitely been a 2014 buzzword. Teen modeling agencies love selfies; they encourage us to love ourselves, to not take ourselves too seriously, and to get a bit of much needed practise in front of the camera.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s literally no way you could have missed the latest trend to hit the social media world. There are probably still a few snaps of ladies without the slap on your Facebook feed \u2013 although the majority of traffic now seems to have calmed down a little bit.<\/p>\n

The (frankly ridiculous) trend of the \u2018neknomination\u2019 seems well and truly over, and now the photos on our feed have a new purpose. The \u2018no makeup selfie\u2019 seemed to come from absolutely nowhere. Really. We genuinely don\u2019t know who the first woman to post a snap of their face on the internet without their usual war paint was, but it\u2019s all been in the name of Cancer Research UK. It seemed to snowball so quickly that it had saturated every news feed before we knew it.<\/p>\n

But what does a picture of your face have to do with raising awareness for cancer research? To be honest, we\u2019re still not sure. The trend has caused quite a lot of mixed reactions. Is this an excuse for vain women to post more pictures of themselves, or do they really think it will help?<\/p>\n

The fact of the matter is it really has helped. Whether or everyone who posted a picture also donated is impossible to tell, but what is clear is that donations to Cancer Research UK did actually spike. And we\u2019re not talking about an extra fiver here. The \u2018text BEAT to 70099 to donate \u00a33\u2019 message soon started appearing alongside the selfies, as people became more and more interested in the campaign. More than \u00a38 MILLION was raised in just six days<\/a>, which gave Cancer Research UK the funding they desperately needed to start running ten new clinical trials (and hopefully begin to make a real difference to people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

And you can still donate now. Teen modeling agencies know just how tough cancer can be. Every two minutes someone in the UK gets that diagnosis, and more than one in three of us will develop cancer of some form in their lifetime. So anything teen modeling agencies and the general public can do to raise a little bit of money, well, we\u2019re all for it.<\/p>\n

So not only does taking a quick snap of your face and sending a text help with this invaluable research, but actually, taking off the makeup is actually really great for you as well.
