Will we still like Bridget &#8216;just as she is&#8217;?!<\/p>\n<p>Helen Fielding&#8217;s latest Bridget Jones installment &#8216;Mad About A Boy&#8217; is finally out today.\u00a0It was dubbed to be the most anticipated book of the year, however it has received quite a battering from reviewers and critics.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Telegraph has called it &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/books\/bookreviews\/10358920\/Bridget-Jones-Mad-About-the-Boy-review-A-Clunking-disappointment.html\">A clunking disappointment<\/a>&#8216; while other reviewers have slammed is as &#8216;disappointing, tired and inauthentic&#8217;.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Telegraph critic Sarah Crompton goes on to say that &#8216;every line feels full of effort,&#8217; and that Fielding is on &#8216;well-trodden territory&#8217;, adding: &#8216;If she is about to enter the fray, she had better have something original to say.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Other reviewers slammed the book as &#8216;disappointing, tired and inauthentic&#8217; and the Sunday Times newspaper reviewer Christina Patterson said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It isn&#8217;t just the style that jars&#8230; the random capital letters, the subjectless sentences, the mannerisms that now seem awfully tired.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It isn&#8217;t just the rather hysterical tone. It isn&#8217;t even the pile-up of clich\u00e9s: the room that &#8220;looked like a bomb had hit it&#8221; or the stare &#8220;like a rabbit caught in the headlights&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Or the fact that Fielding will never just give two or three examples \u2014 of funny self-help books, of children&#8217;s names that sound like Latin declensions \u2014 when she can give 10. Has Received Bad Reviews<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, despite all this negativity surrounding the book, it is still at the top of Amazon&#8217;s bestseller list&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>We have to admit &#8211; even though we are miffed that Mark Darcy has been killed off and the reviews are awful &#8211; we STILL want to read the book.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Ms. Fielding knew exactly what she was doing after all!<\/p>\n<p>Will you be buying the book?
