Kelly McManus Gets \u00a35,000 tummy tuck on NHS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Back in March Talent Management reviewed Josie Cunningham’s<\/a> controversial \u00a34,800 breast englargement on the NHS which outraged tax payers across the country. What annoyed them even more is that just four months later Josie wanted to sue the NHS <\/a>because they were too big…<\/p>\n

It looks like tax payers are footing the bill yet again, but this time for a 27-year-old single mum that is having trouble losing her ‘mummy tummy’. Kelly McManus begged doctors to give her a tummy tuck on the NHS as she had lost all her confidence and could not shift the bulge or afford the \u00a35,000 operation.<\/p>\n

It seems this wasn’t the only reason she wanted the operation though as McManus, who once appeared on Jeremy Kyle, told reporters: “I feel like a new woman. I can\u2019t wait to start acting lessons now. Who knows, maybe I could be the next Julia Roberts.”<\/p>\n

The 27-year old later admitted she didn’t have any acting experience: “The last acting I did was 11 years ago at school! Although I did get an A grade in Drama so I can\u2019t be that bad.”<\/p>\n

Rather than feel bad about tax payers having to pay for her operation, the part-time beautician believes she has actually saved the NHS money, claiming that it would have cost them more to treat her depression.<\/p>\n

Kelly explained: “After my first child my stomach never went back to its normal size. Then after my third child the midwife said, \u201cYou do know that your stomach muscles have separated from your bulge.<\/p>\n

“It looked like I was still pregnant and people even asked me, \u201cHow far on are you?\u201d It was just so embarrassing. I lost all my confidence because of it. It was leaving me depressed and ruining my sex life.”<\/p>\n

In desperation the single mother-of-three started researching cosmetic surgery and when she realised she couldn’t afford the \u00a35,000 treatment she knew the NHS was her ‘only hope’. McManus had the three-hour operation at Bradford Royal Infirmary last month, she told The Sun: “\u2018I am more confident and a lot happier than I was. It changed my outlook on life. It\u2019s only been four weeks and the scars are still healing but I just feel absolutely brilliant.”<\/p>\n

Suffice to say tax payers and campaigners were appalled and shocked at the decision to fund her operation when cuts are being made elsewhere in the NHS. A spokesman from The TaxPayers\u2019 Alliance said: “It\u2019s ridiculous that the NHS pays for procedures that are not based on strict medical needs. Patients missing out on vital drugs and treatment will find this deeply unfair.”<\/p>\n

Cosmetic procedures are not normally done on the NHS unless doctors decide there is a clinical need. Do you think Kelly had a clinical need for this operation or do you think it’s unfair that she got this operation for free on the NHS?<\/p>\n
