As anyone interested in modelling<\/a> will probably know by now, Channel 4 has delved head-first into this glamorous world with its latest reality show \u2018The Model Agency\u2019 – which of course the Talenet Management team<\/a> have been keeping up with. Check back on our blog each week for a round-up of each episode!<\/p>\n

The opening episode revealed the callous brutality of the modelling world. \u201cHow old are you and how tall are you?\u201d is the telephone opener given to a model hopeful calling Senior Booker for Premier Model Management, Paul. After a short pause, \u201cFive foot five. That\u2019s why you\u2019re too short, I\u2019m afraid. Thank you.\u201d Down goes the phone.<\/p>\n

Paul later goes on to explain that being pretty simply isn\u2019t enough in the modelling industry today. \u201cThey don\u2019t look like girls you went to school with, girls you know, or girls on your street…they have to be ethereal. They have to look like they were born in a different world.\u201d During this conversation, as if to support this statement, we witness a pretty, although obviously not otherworldly beautiful, girl receiving a gentle brush-off.<\/p>\n

One model is India whose sculpted and undeniably unique look had the whole office exceptionally excited. Having been spotted when she was barely a toddler, India was due to make her New York debut at the age of 16 but was unfortunately experiencing doubts after experiencing first-hand the confidence-shredding, deranged attitude the fashion world can have towards body shape.<\/p>\n

For those looking to get into modelling, but who perhaps don\u2019t fit into fashion’s ultra elite club reserved for eccentric looking girls, agencies like Talent Managment<\/a> exist to reassure these discouraged stunning girls that whilst you may not look like one of the Na\u2019vi, and perhaps do appear to belong on planet earth, there are still countless, if not potentially more opportunities available for you. Outside of editorial modelling exists a world of other possibilities for classic models, petite models, mature models, plus sized models and \u2018real\u2019 models<\/a>. You\u2019ve only got to catch a glimpse of advertisements like the brilliant Boots \u2018Here Come the Girls\u2019 campaign to see examples of gorgeous, but real and relatable models.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
