One of Models Direct’s favourite British style queens, Alexa Chung, has bagged herself yet another impressive accolade. Last Friday, the British Fashion Council (BFC) announced that presenter-turned-fashion icon-turned model Alexa Chung is the new BFC Young Style Ambassador.

Chung is undoubtedly the epitome of ‘London style’, which goes some way to explaining why she’s also two times winner of the Vodafone British Style Award at the British Fashion Awards.

In a press release, the BFC said that through her modelling work, Chung has become a hugely influential figure in the fashion industry, and is a great representative for London as a leading creative fashion capital.

Chung regularly receives praise for championing London’s most up and coming design talents and through her distinctive personal style and determination, she has landed covers for Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar and has bagged modelling campaigns for some of the world’s top fashion labels.

Through her new role as ambassador, the BFC say Chung will support the organisation and attend key events including London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Awards and LONDON show ROOMS in efforts to further promote British fashion design talent to a global market.

Chung said of the appointment: “I always name London first when asked which city in the world has the best style. There’s something so inherently rebellious about how people naturally style themselves. Brits aren’t afraid to experiment or take risks with how they look, perhaps that’s why London has always been home to the most dynamic and daring designers in the world. I adore fashion and am proud that it’s now officially my job to champion those London designers both new and established that inspire me so much.”

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, added:“We’re delighted to announce this role for Alexa. She is hugely influential in both the fashion industry and to the wider public, who have voted her as winner of the British Style Award at the British Fashion Awards for two years running.”

Chung joins top British model Poppy Delevingne and fellow model and fashion writer Laura Bailey, who were appointed the BFC’s Young Ambassador and Cultural Ambassador respectively.
